|REVIEW: The Adventure of Drip and Drop (eBook/iBooks)
Category: Children's | Review Added: March 18, 2014
In The Adventures of Drip and Drop, a new iBook for children (ages 3-8), author Phillip McKerrow cleverly uses fantasy, science and faith in very engaging ways.
Drip and Drop, two raindrops, are the main characters in each of the 11 adventures.
Follow them along on their journeys where they help your child not only learn about the functions of the water cycle and the importance of water to the life around us, but also easily applicable lessons in faith.
McKerrow’s use of clever writing and at times adult level humor, makes certain both the child and adult will stay engaged with each page.
Perhaps one of the best features of this book comes at the end of every story.
Each contains several discussion questions to help reinforce key parts of the text.
Next comes a short list of word definitions, practical ideas for scientific research and experiments, related action steps, scripture and finally a prayer.
The design and artwork seem more from a science textbook than most children’s stories, but still manages to have just enough all around appeal for it’s (wide) audience age range.
This is a well priced, cleverly written children’s iBook with lots of great application that’s sure to be a fun way to learn about science and faith. —Jerry Fee
