My First Bible Stories is an excellent concept that expands the classic Children's Bible artwork by allowing you to record your own voice as you read through the store. The app comes with "Noah and the Ark" as part of the free download and additional stories are available for $0.99. An "All Books Bundle" is available for just $4.99 giving you a total of 8 stories in all including "The Creation," "Daniel and the Lions," "David and Goliath," "When Jesus Was Born," "Stories Jesus Told," "Miracles Of Jesus," and "The Story Of Easter."
Navigation is very user friendly. The initial screen allows you to view all available books and select the one you want to open. From there, you use arrow keys on the sides to change pages (an ability to swipe to turn a page should be added here, but it's more out of habit than a hindrance).
This app takes the classic eBook and adds a nice recording feature, allow you to record the words from each page, each containing a sentence or two. Then, during the next playback, instead of the user seeing the words on the page, they hear the audio recording! This is a great way to further engage your children into the stories because not only will the screen be void of words they can't read yet, but they will actually hear familiar voices reading them the story. My own children love this feature and it really engages them deeper into the app.
If you decide not to record, a default voice reads the pages and it's very clear and works just fine.
You can toggle the text on the pages on or off and can also turn Autoplay on or off. You can control the volume inside the app, which overrules the volume set on your phone and you can also restore purchases with one click in the app is ever accidentally deleted. This is a nice feature that will save you some time if you buy multiple books and can't recall which ones you purchased.
Overall, this is a great app, and with the developer offering the first book free, there's really no reason not to try this out for yourself. I'm sure you and your children will enjoy it as much as us! —Kevin McNeese
